Our Mission

theFstate Magazine is an independent fashion, culture, identity, business, and creative-industry publication.

We publish stories that help readers better understand the people, ideas, movements, and systems shaping culture. Our work must be accurate, original, culturally informed, fair, transparent, and useful.

Editorial Authority

theFstate Magazine retains final authority over all content published under its name.

Editors may accept, reject, revise, shorten, retitle, delay, update, correct, or remove content. Submission, commissioning, interviewing, or photography does not guarantee publication.

Advertisers, sponsors, contributors, publicists, subjects, and partners may not control independent editorial decisions.

Accuracy and Verification

All material facts must be reasonably verified before publication.

This includes:

• Names and titles

• Dates and locations

• Quotations

• Statistics and research

• Professional credits

• Company information

• Historical claims

• Product or event information

Unverified claims must be clearly attributed. Fabricated, misleading, distorted, or materially incomplete information is prohibited.

Interviews and Quotations

Quotations must accurately reflect what a source communicated.

Minor edits may be made for clarity without changing meaning or intent. Quotations may not be invented, materially altered, or removed from context.

Interview subjects may request factual corrections but do not receive final approval over articles unless agreed to in writing.

Sources and Attribution

Information, research, quotations, photographs, ideas, and previously published material must be properly attributed.

Anonymous sources may be used when the information is important, the source is credible, identification could cause serious harm, and an editor knows the source’s identity.

Fairness and Right of Response

Fairness requires accuracy, context, and an honest representation of relevant facts.

When an article contains significant allegations or potentially damaging factual claims, the subject should receive a reasonable opportunity to respond before publication.

A refusal or failure to respond does not automatically prevent publication.

Editorial Independence

Editorial coverage cannot be purchased.

Advertising, sponsorships, donations, gifts, partnerships, access, or business relationships may not improperly influence independent editorial decisions.

Material relationships that could affect a reader’s understanding of a story should be disclosed.

Conflicts of Interest

Editors and contributors must disclose relationships that could affect or appear to affect their independence.

This includes:

• Employment or consulting relationships

• Financial interests

• Personal or family relationships

• Brand partnerships

• Representation or management relationships

• Gifts or free services

• Political or organizational involvement

theFstate Magazine may reassign, limit, disclose, or decline work when a conflict exists.

Gifts, Travel, and Complimentary Access

Contributors may not accept money, favors, or valuable benefits in exchange for coverage.

Complimentary products, travel, lodging, services, meals, or event access may be accepted when necessary for legitimate reporting or review. Acceptance does not guarantee coverage or a positive outcome.

Material complimentary arrangements should be disclosed.

Advertising and Sponsored Content

Paid content must be clearly separated from independent editorial work.

Commercial content may be labeled:

theFstate Magazine will not disguise advertising as independent journalism.

Sponsors may review paid content for factual accuracy, trademark use, product information, and agreed deliverables. They may not require false claims, misleading omissions, or undisclosed promotion.

Affiliate Content

theFstate Magazine may earn commissions through affiliate links.

Affiliate relationships must be disclosed when required. Compensation does not guarantee favorable coverage or recommendations.

Opinion and Reviews

Opinion, analysis, criticism, and reviews may express a clear point of view.

Opinion does not excuse factual inaccuracy. Writers must distinguish verified facts from interpretation and disclose material conflicts.

Cultural Identity and Representation

theFstate Magazine represents people as complete human beings, not stereotypes, trends, or marketing categories.

Editorial content should:

• Use respectful and accurate language

• Avoid unnecessary demographic references

• Include cultural and historical context

• Recognize differences within communities

• Avoid treating one person as representative of an entire group

• Create space for overlooked and underrepresented voices

Accuracy does not require false neutrality when reporting documented discrimination, exclusion, or harm.

Minimizing Harm

Before publishing sensitive information, editors should consider public value, accuracy, privacy, safety, dignity, vulnerability, and the permanence of online publication.

Special care should be used when covering minors, survivors, grieving families, health, suicide, HIV status, sexual assault, gender identity, sexual orientation, immigration status, and people experiencing crisis.

Minimizing harm does not mean hiding important truths. It means publishing with purpose and proportionality.

Children and Minors

Content involving minors may require permission from a parent or legal guardian, releases, identity protections, and additional editorial review.

The safety and long-term interests of the minor take priority over attention, promotion, or reach.

Photography and Visual Integrity

Documentary and news images may not be manipulated in ways that materially mislead readers.

Standard adjustments such as cropping, sizing, exposure, contrast, and color correction are permitted when they do not alter factual meaning.

Fashion editorials, composites, conceptual photography, retouching, illustration, and AI-generated visuals may be used when appropriate. Material alterations should be disclosed when readers could reasonably mistake the image for documentary reality.

Contributors must hold the necessary rights, licenses, permissions, and releases for all submitted visual materials.

Artificial Intelligence

theFstate Magazine permits the responsible use of artificial intelligence in editorial creation.

AI may assist with:

• Research organization

• Brainstorming

• Draft development

• Transcription

• Grammar and structure

• Translation

• Search optimization

• Metadata

• Accessibility

• Image development

• Workflow support

However, theFstate Magazine will not publish articles created without meaningful human involvement.

Every article must include human judgment, original thought, editorial direction, fact-checking, cultural context, and final human approval.

AI-generated information must never be treated as verified fact. Writers and editors remain responsible for:

• Verifying all claims

• Confirming quotations and sources

• Correcting errors

• Preventing fabricated citations

• Protecting confidential information

• Reviewing bias and context

• Confirming originality and rights

• Ensuring the article reflects a human perspective

Fully automated, unreviewed, or mass-generated articles are prohibited.

Material AI use should be disclosed when it substantially shaped the published work or when disclosure is necessary to avoid misleading readers.

Plagiarism and Originality

Plagiarism is prohibited.

This includes:

• Copying without attribution

• Presenting another person’s ideas as original

• Unauthorized use of photographs or artwork

• Rewriting copied material to disguise its source

• Fabricating sources or quotations

• Republishing previous work without disclosure

• Using AI to imitate another creator without permission

Contributors must disclose previous publication, licensed materials, paid collaborations, and significant AI involvement.

Copyright and Creative Rights

Contributors must own or control the rights necessary to submit their work.

They are responsible for securing permissions, releases, licenses, and credits for photographs, text, artwork, video, music, locations, trademarks, and identifiable individuals where required.

Submission for review does not transfer ownership unless agreed to in writing.

Embargoes and Confidentiality

Embargoes and confidentiality obligations apply only when an authorized representative of theFstate Magazine expressly agrees to them.

Sending information marked confidential, exclusive, or embargoed does not automatically create an obligation.

Corrections and Clarifications

theFstate Magazine corrects material errors promptly and transparently.

Material corrections should explain what was incorrect, what was changed, and when the correction was made.

Minor spelling, formatting, punctuation, or style changes may be made without a formal notice when they do not alter meaning.

Clarifications or editor’s notes may be added when readers need additional context.

Retractions and Removal

Content may be retracted or removed when it contains substantial fabrication, plagiarism, manipulated evidence, serious inaccuracies, invalid permissions, legal violations, significant safety risks, or major ethical breaches.

Accurate published content will not ordinarily be removed solely because it later becomes inconvenient or unfavorable to a subject.

Submitting a request does not guarantee correction or removal.

Contributor Conduct

Contributors representing theFstate Magazine must act professionally.

Prohibited conduct includes:

• Harassment or discrimination

• Fabrication or plagiarism

• Undisclosed pay-for-play arrangements

• Misrepresentation of credentials

• Bribery or intimidation

• Misuse of confidential information

• Unauthorized promises of publication

• Requests for personal benefits in exchange for coverage

Violations may result in rejection, correction, removal, revoked credentials, or termination of the contributor relationship.

Social Media

Official theFstate Magazine social content must follow the same standards of accuracy, attribution, rights clearance, transparency, and correction as published editorial work.

Personal opinions should not be presented as official positions unless authorized.

Editorial Archives

Published work may remain available as part of the cultural, creative, and historical record.

Content will not ordinarily be removed because circumstances, employment, relationships, opinions, or public perception later change.

Policy Enforcement

Violations may result in additional review, rejection, correction, removal, disclosure, suspended assignments, revoked credentials, terminated relationships, or legal action where appropriate.
